Area Manager – Insurance Sales (Chennai)

About the role

The Area Manager will drive insurance business growth for Birla Sunlife Insurance through HDFC Bank channels in Chennai. You will work closely with bank branch heads and other relationship partners to promote and sell a mix of traditional, ULIP and term policies, ensuring both pre‑ and post‑sale support.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve premium and revenue targets by continuously engaging with multiple bank branch heads and mapping key decision‑makers.
• Design and execute innovative branch activities to increase customer penetration and product activation.
• Communicate process changes, ensure smooth sales operations, and handle issuance and complaints without delays.
• Manage the open‑architecture relationship with the bank, providing best‑in‑class service and product knowledge to bank customers.
• Identify new business opportunities, drive database penetration, and maintain the required product mix (Traditional 50%, ULIP 40%, Term 10%).
• Provide feedback for new product development and training needs based on channel insights.

Required profile

• Proven experience in insurance sales or channel management, preferably with banking partners.
• Strong understanding of insurance products (traditional, ULIP, term) and ability to articulate their benefits.
• Excellent relationship‑building skills with the ability to influence multiple stakeholders.
• Track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a volatile market.
