Technical Operations Engineer

About the role

Arbor Education is looking for a Technical Operations Engineer in Thiruvananthapuram to own the operational health of its migration journeys, mainly for Arbor MIS and other products such as Arbor Finance. Migrations move customer data from competitor systems into Arbor, and the engineer ensures each migration runs smoothly and feeds back systemic issues so they are improved.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and monitor data migrations across products and countries, triage issues, run root cause analysis and post-incident reviews, and define triage frameworks and escalation paths
• Improve observability (logs, dashboards, alerts) and manage data integrity checks and SLAs
• Own operational readiness for large-scale migration windows, including risk assessments, checklists and go/no-go decisions
• Maintain migration documentation, playbooks and best practices, and feed prioritised requirements to the Migration Platform team
• Act as the main liaison with Onboarding and Support teams, flagging risks and blockers and partnering with Support on post-migration issues
• Communicate migration status and risks clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, and share knowledge in tech talks
• Mentor less experienced colleagues, review others' work and shape team processes

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional experience
• Background in operating or supporting data migrations in production, and in incident management or operational triage
• Ability to handle multiple workstreams and manage stakeholders
• Desirable: SaaS, education technology, large datasets, SLAs and high-volume operational experience

Required skills

• Databases, SQL, data validation and integrity checks
• Cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, and observability tools
• Git (e.g. GitHub) and JIRA or similar ticketing systems
• Reading backend or scripting code such as PHP or Python
