Senior Product Engineer (PHP)

About the role

Arbor Education is looking for a collaborative and experienced Senior Product Engineer (PHP) to join its Engineering team in Thiruvananthapuram. The role helps lead and deliver high-impact features for the company's core systems, processes and auxiliary services, and includes mentoring and developing other engineers. It suits a diligent team player ready for a challenge.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, QA Engineer and Product Manager to turn feature requests into solutions.
• Lead the creation of detailed documentation for new features, including diagrams.
• Drive advanced testing of new features to ensure high test coverage and reliability.
• Write well-architected, efficient and scalable code using industry-leading design patterns and methodologies.
• Lead code reviews and pair programming, and guide and mentor colleagues.
• Take part in tech talks, workshops and team learning initiatives.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of software development experience.
• Proven experience designing and writing APIs and services in a service-oriented environment.
• Leadership qualities shown through collaboration and mentorship.
• Good written and spoken English, as the headquarters is in London.

Required skills

• PHP, Zend Framework/Symphony, Twig and MySQL.
• Object-oriented languages and software engineering principles such as SOLID and DRY.
• Relational databases.
• Desirable: enterprise solutions and large-scale systems, Scrum or agile, cloud computing, Docker, refactoring, clean code, domain-driven design and test-driven development.
