Senior DevOps Engineer

About the role

Arbor Education is looking for an experienced and collaborative Senior DevOps Engineer to join its DevOps team and help improve the resilience and performance of the Arbor platform so the business can scale quickly. The role uses metrics and tooling to work with the solution architect and engineering teams to continuously improve the architecture, infrastructure and working practices. It suits a highly technical and diligent engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the Head of Platform and Head of SRE to identify improvements in the platform infrastructure and implement plans to address them
• Work with the Platform teams to raise the maturity of all components, including high availability, adequate testing and disaster recovery plans
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and share deployment patterns
• Assist in incident response, resolution, and follow-up post-mortems and retrospectives
• Take part in tech talks and team learning, and document everything using playbooks, runbooks and systems documentation

Required profile

• 6-12 years of experience
• Extensive DevOps experience operating a large-scale platform
• Extensive experience with distributed cloud systems, especially Amazon Web Services
• Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible and CloudFormation
• Understanding of relational databases and their cloud versions (e.g. AWS Aurora)
• Experience with messaging and distributed asynchronous workloads, and with nginx or similar
• Experience with DataDog, Prometheus or similar tools
• Good written and spoken English

• Past experience with enterprise solutions at scale

• Refactoring, clean code, domain-driven design and test-driven development
