Staff Software Engineer – Autonomy Applications

About the role

Shield AI is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development of autonomy applications for unmanned platforms across air, sea and space. You will work directly with customers to integrate the Hivemind Enterprise Autonomy SDK, develop AI capabilities, and support deployment and training at customer sites.

Key responsibilities

• Become an expert user of the Hivemind Enterprise Autonomy SDK and develop AI & autonomy software for drones, helicopters, ro‑dogs and fighter‑jet AI pilots.
• Enable customers to integrate Hivemind autonomy into their vehicles, debug integration issues, and deploy AI infrastructure on‑site.
• Provide technical training, create and maintain documentation, and collaborate with product and engineering teams to incorporate feedback.
• Travel to customer locations in India (≈30% travel) for deployment, training and flight testing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field (master’s preferred).
• 7+ years of industry experience (or 4+ years with a master’s).
• 3+ years in integration/applications engineering and 2+ years in a startup environment.
• Fluent in Hindi and English, able to travel and stay on customer sites.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in modern C++ development.
• Intermediate proficiency in Python programming.
