Deputy Manager – Payments & Merchant Acquiring

About the role

The Deputy Manager – Payments & Merchant Acquiring will lead the QR acquiring business for a defined territory in Delhi. Reporting to the Payments strategy team, the role involves building the business from the ground up, hiring and managing a field team, and driving QR, SB and POS/EDC deployments to generate transaction volume and gross merchandise value.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, train and motivate Field Operations Staff (FOS) and monitor their productivity.
• Acquire new merchants and oversee QR, SB and POS/EDC deployments.
• Develop distribution channels, map FOS coverage and manage channel relationships.
• Drive sales targets, retailer payment reconciliation and store activation activities.
• Collaborate with partners on sales promotions and ensure process rigor and controllership.
• Maintain visibility at points of sale and build relationships with key decision‑makers.

Required profile

• Graduation or MBA with 2‑4 years of relevant experience (or graduate with 3‑6 years).
• Prior exposure to payments, FMCG or telecom prepaid sales is mandatory.
• Experience handling merchant relationships and distribution in consumer durables, digital or LSF roles is preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal skills and high energy for field work.
• Self‑starter attitude with a passion for meeting retailers.
