Utility Plant Electrician – Journey Level

About the role

The Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) is seeking skilled Utility Plant Electricians to join our team in Wasaga Beach. You will provide journey‑level electrical services, ensuring reliable operation of sophisticated utility equipment and process controls across our water treatment facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faults in electrical equipment, fixtures, and control systems.
• Maintain and operate electrical distribution systems and related high‑voltage equipment to minimize downtime.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs in accordance with work orders, manufacturer recommendations, and safety standards.
• Execute lock‑out/tag‑out procedures on medium and high voltage equipment and switchgear.
• Estimate material needs, manage inventory, and place orders for replacement parts.
• Conduct regular inspections and process analyses to ensure compliance with operational standards.
• Respond to alarm situations after hours following contingency plans.

Required profile

• Valid Ontario Electrician’s Certificate of Qualification (309A Construction and Maintenance Electrician).
• Completion of an approved apprenticeship program (minimum 8160 on‑the‑job hours and 840 in‑school hours).
• Experience working with utility plant electrical systems and process controls.
• Ability to work safely in high‑voltage environments and follow lock‑out/tag‑out protocols.
