Senior Dimensional Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Dimensional Engineer you will support the development of industry‑leading automotive technologies by defining, optimizing and simplifying dimensional specifications. You will work within Magna’s Cosma group, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to drive cost‑effective solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and apply GD&T (ASME Y14.5 & OEM) standards for early definition and cost‑focused simplification.
• Perform tolerance analysis using 2D/3D stack‑ups and Vis VSA variation simulation.
• Identify low‑impact characteristics to reduce tooling, gauging and inspection costs.
• Support manufacturing processes including stamping, welding, fixturing, gauging and assembly.
• Conduct metrology activities such as CMM data analysis, MSA and simulation‑to‑plant correlation.
• Set and evaluate process capability targets (Cp/Cpk).
• Lead problem‑solving initiatives using 8D, root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in dimensional engineering within an automotive or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T standards and tolerance analysis methods.
• Hands‑on experience with manufacturing processes and metrology tools.
• Ability to drive cost‑optimization and process‑capability improvements.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
