Utilities & Piping Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Utilities & Piping Design Engineer to lead the engineering of utility systems for steel, non‑ferrous, power, mining and other process industries. The role involves delivering detailed designs, calculations and documentation for a wide range of utility services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) with appropriate control philosophy.
• Perform basic unit sizing, hydraulic design of piping networks, pump and compressor head selection, and piping stress analysis.
• Prepare detailed piping engineering deliverables, including support selection, isometric drawings and spool drawings.
• Generate piping bills of quantities, evaluate technical bids and support vendor selection.
• Ensure all designs comply with international codes, standards, statutory regulations and client specifications.

Required profile

• MTech, BE, BTech or Diploma/ITI in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3 to 20 years of experience in utility system design and engineering for industrial projects.
• Experience in steel, non‑ferrous, power, mining or similar process industries.
• Familiarity with engineering consultancy, design centres or EPC environments is preferred.

Required skills

• Process simulation tools such as AFT Arrow, Fluid Flow, Pipe Net, CEASER, PVELITE.
• Selection and sizing of mechanical equipment (pumps, heat exchangers, compressors, etc.).
• Preparation of PFD, P&ID, piping stress analysis and hydraulic calculations.
• Knowledge of international piping codes and standards.
