Senior Building Management Systems (BMS) Specialist

About the role

AFRY is seeking a Senior Building Management Systems (BMS) Specialist to join its international consultancy team. The role involves delivering smart, sustainable building solutions across data centres, hospitals, commercial developments and critical infrastructure worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, specify and develop BMS or Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS) for complex projects.
• Integrate HVAC, lighting, energy monitoring, security, fire alarm and other building services into a unified control architecture.
• Prepare technical specifications, control descriptions and engineering documentation.
• Develop and review network architectures and communication protocols, and support commissioning, testing and system validation.
• Perform energy optimisation, operational performance analysis and support digital‑twin and smart‑building initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation, Electrical, Building Services or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in BMS, building automation or smart‑building systems, preferably on Nordic‑condition projects.
• Strong customer focus, ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with platforms such as Siemens Desigo, Schneider EcoStruxure, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Trend, Saia‑Burgess Controls, Delta Controls or Beckhoff.
• Knowledge of communication protocols including BACnet, Modbus, DALI, KNX, LoRaWorks, LonWorks and MQTT.
• Familiarity with BIM and digital project environments.
