Protection Application Engineer – Transmission & Distribution

About the role

The Protection Application Engineer will design, calculate, and implement protection settings for transmission and distribution projects up to 345 kV. You will work closely with US counterparts and support substation construction and commissioning activities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform protection setting calculations, develop relay logic diagrams, and coordinate protection schemes for various T&D projects.
• Create design‑basis documentation and generate native relay configuration files using SEL AcSELerator and GE EnerVista.
• Apply industry standards to protect power buses, transformers, HV/MV circuit breakers, capacitor banks, reactors, transmission lines, and distribution feeders.
• Conduct power‑system modeling and relay coordination analysis using ETAP, SKM, ASPEN OneLiner, or Siemens CAPE.
• Execute design calculations such as short‑circuit analysis, CT performance, over‑current element coordination, zone‑distance element selection, and relay load‑ability studies.
• Provide engineering support during substation construction and commissioning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or Master’s with equivalent experience).
• Minimum 4 years of experience in substation protection and control scheme design.
• Strong technical background with the ability to communicate effectively with international teams.
• Self‑motivated, quick learner, able to meet tight deadlines.
