Manufacturing Engineer – CNC

About the role

As a Manufacturing Engineer you will support and drive improvements to critical manufacturing functions, acting as the bridge between builders who order parts and manufacturing partners who produce them. You will review CNC machining proposals, assess manufacturability, and recommend design changes to meet customer needs while accelerating product delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Review sales packages to define scope, feasibility, lead times, and select optimal CNC processes.
• Calculate cycle times, setup costs, and generate should‑cost estimates using in‑house tools.
• Scrutinize manufacturing partner quotes, negotiate pricing, and ensure optimized material and machining costs.
• Develop cost calculators, RFQ packages, and packaging concepts for logistics.
• Provide DFx feedback on 3D models and 2D prints, highlighting design improvements.
• Maintain reports on quoted opportunities, conversion ratios, and participate in partner QBRs.

Required profile

• 6–8 years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience.
• Meticulous documentation habits and strong verbal/written English communication.
• Self‑starter able to work independently without supervision.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience reviewing 3D models, 2D prints, and providing design recommendations.

Required skills

• CNC machining (5‑axis, 4‑axis, 3‑axis milling, turning, grinding, gear hobbing).
• Spark EDM, wire EDM, gun drilling.
• GD&T and technical drawing interpretation.
• CNC programming for milling and turning.
• Tool selection, cutting condition optimization, and material property analysis.
• Heat‑treatment processes (normalizing, tempering, annealing, case hardening, quenching).
• Secondary processes: anodising, zinc/plating, chemical conversion coating, painting, powder coating.
• Inspection instruments, PPAP documentation, ISO 9001, AS9100D compliance.
• Excel and Google Sheets proficiency.
