In-House Legal Counsel

About the role

We are seeking an experienced In‑House Legal Counsel to join Onsurity’s rapidly growing team in Bengaluru. The role will provide pragmatic legal guidance across the business, helping to safeguard the company while enabling fast, compliant decision‑making in a dynamic startup environment.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate and execute a variety of commercial agreements including customer contracts, vendor and procurement contracts, partnership agreements, MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, employment and consultant agreements, and data processing agreements.
• Develop standardized contract templates and playbooks to accelerate turnaround times.
• Act as a trusted legal advisor to leadership and cross‑functional teams, offering practical solutions on day‑to‑day operations and strategic initiatives.
• Identify and assess legal, commercial and operational risks early, recommending commercially viable alternatives.
• Ensure compliance with Indian laws and regulations relevant to insurance, healthcare, technology, data privacy and employment, and monitor regulatory changes.
• Collaborate with sales, partnerships, finance, HR, operations and product teams, and manage relationships with external law firms when specialized support is required.

Required profile

• LL.B. or LL.M. from a recognized institution.
• 5–8 years of post‑qualification experience as an in‑house counsel or at a law firm handling commercial contracts.
• Strong commercial mindset with the ability to balance legal protection and business agility.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear business recommendations.
