Electrical Engineer II

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to support the development and sustainment of cutting‑edge equipment used in semiconductor and display manufacturing. The role focuses on managing component obsolescence, ensuring product manufacturability, and driving engineering changes in a fast‑paced, technology‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct obsolescence risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to maintain product sustainment.
• Identify alternate components, validate fit‑for‑function (FFF) compatibility, and obtain stakeholder approvals.
• Collaborate with Materials teams to align inventory with supply‑demand forecasts and product roadmaps.
• Execute engineering change orders in compliance with standard procedures and maintain detailed project records.
• Support resolution of customer complaints through root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives to enhance team effectiveness.

Required profile

• Strong technical knowledge of electrical and electromechanical systems, including components, schematics, PCB, cable and harness design.
• Experience with component obsolescence forecasting, risk mitigation, and alternate source identification.
• Familiarity with BOM analysis, product lifecycle management, and PLM/ERP tools.
• Understanding of engineering change management and safety compliance standards (UL/CSA/FCC).
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional stakeholders and provide informal guidance to peers.
