Director, Compliance and Conduct Risk Assurance

About the role

The Director, Compliance and Conduct Risk Assurance leads the bank’s assurance function, providing an independent, risk‑based view of policies, processes, systems and controls. Reporting to the Global Head of CFCR Assurance, the role is pivotal in supporting senior management, the board and regulators with evidence‑based insights.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a data‑driven assurance strategy across all compliance and conduct risk areas, aligning with industry best practice.
• Oversee the assurance book of work, ensuring coverage of 2LOD policy setting, 1LOD risk management, and 2LOD oversight.
• Collaborate with Financial Crime Assurance, Data & Analytics, and Transformation teams to embed technology, analytics and automation into assurance processes.
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging data and technology to enhance risk identification and audit efficiency.
• Lead cross‑line‑of‑defence risk and control ecosystems, ensuring effective collaboration between functions.
• Allocate resources and build capability within the assurance team, including technical and audit expertise.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in compliance, conduct risk, or financial crime assurance within a large banking environment.
• Proven ability to lead senior‑level assurance programmes and influence risk‑aware decision‑making.
• Strong strategic thinking with a focus on data‑driven risk assessment.
