Auditor, Corporate Audit

About the role

BASF is seeking an experienced Internal Auditor to join its Corporate Audit team in Mumbai. The role supports the Board of Executive Directors by providing independent assurance on risk management, control and governance processes across the Asia‑Pacific region.

Key responsibilities

• Execute the internal audit plan in line with established standards and procedures.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance frameworks.
• Conduct financial and operational audits to identify improvement opportunities.
• Provide actionable recommendations to enhance efficiency, effectiveness and compliance.
• Communicate audit findings and recommendations to management and stakeholders.
• Monitor implementation of audit recommendations and offer guidance as needed.
• Stay current with relevant laws, regulations and industry best practices.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant, Chemical Engineer, Data Scientist or equivalent qualification.
• Professional certification: CIA (required) and/or CFE, CISA (optional).
• 4–7 years of internal audit experience, preferably in a multinational, manufacturing (chemical) environment.
• Experience working on international assignments and with diverse teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% for fieldwork (approximately 6‑7 audits per year).

Required skills

• Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualification.
• Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) – optional.
• Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) – optional.
