Senior Lead – Data Risk & Controls

About the role

The Senior Lead, Enterprise Data Risk is responsible for governing data risk across ANZ. You will lead a specialist team to develop and operationalise data risk frameworks, controls and reporting, ensuring compliance with policy and regulatory expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the enhancement and operationalisation of ANZ’s Data Management Control Library, providing standard control requirements and implementation guidance.
• Design risk‑based controls across the data lifecycle, covering data quality, critical data, metadata, lineage and responsible use.
• Partner with business, data and technology teams to translate enterprise requirements into practical, sustainable controls.
• Assess the data control environment, identify gaps and drive control‑design improvements, automation and monitoring.
• Lead specialist control uplift initiatives and report on control maturity and effectiveness.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in Data Management, Data Governance, Data Risk or Data Controls.
• At least 5 years designing, implementing or uplifting data controls in a large, complex environment.
• Strong knowledge of data control frameworks, data quality monitoring, critical data, metadata management and data lineage.
• Proven ability to translate policy, risk and regulatory requirements into practical control implementations.
• Experience influencing enterprise‑wide control uplift in a highly regulated industry.
