L3 Network Engineer – Access Services (VPN & Security)

About the role

The L3 Network Engineer will manage and maintain Continental's network infrastructure for VPN and business‑partner access. You will oversee VPN gateways, firewalls, load balancers and Site‑to‑Site tunnels while supporting a DevOps‑oriented, agile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Drive escalation, problem management and incident resolution with internal IT teams and external service providers.
• Maintain VPN gateways, firewalls, load balancers, request portal and Site‑to‑Site tunnels; perform hardware patching and configuration.
• Execute regular monitoring, backup and restore operations and keep detailed network documentation.
• Coordinate with external partners, conduct feasibility studies, market research and vendor evaluations.

Required profile

• Education in IT or networking; certifications such as CCNP, CCIE or equivalent are preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in network engineering focusing on VPN gateways, firewalls, load balancers and complex network infrastructures.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of VPN technologies and firewall configurations.
• Experience with MS Guest Accounts and Site‑to‑Site VPN tunnels.
• Proficiency in automation tools for on‑premise and virtual environments (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
• Knowledge of ITSM processes, agile frameworks and DevOps (infrastructure as code).
