Industry Solution Leader – Oil, Gas & Chemical (Refining/Asset Performance)

About the role

Industry Solution Leader – Oil, Gas & Chemical (Refining / Chemical Asset Performance) at C3 AI will lead design and delivery of enterprise AI solutions for clients in the refining and chemical sectors, combining deep industry expertise with end‑to‑end ownership of customer engagements.

Key responsibilities

• Own overall solution strategy, technical direction and delivery outcomes from problem definition through production deployment and scale.
• Serve as primary customer‑facing solution leader, developing deep understanding of operations, equipment, processes and business objectives.
• Identify and quantify high‑impact opportunities across reliability, maintenance, production performance, throughput, yield, quality, energy efficiency and economics.
• Translate engineering challenges into AI/ML, optimization and software problems with defined requirements and business value.
• Lead cross‑functional teams of Forward Deployed Engineers, data scientists, product managers and industry experts to deliver solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 7+ years experience in engineering, manufacturing, operations, reliability, maintenance or technical consulting.
• Hands‑on experience in refinery or chemical plant environments, including equipment such as distillation units, reactors, compressors or heat exchangers.
• Proven ability to solve complex operational problems and improve equipment reliability, production performance, yield or energy efficiency.

Required skills

• Experience with industrial data including sensor time‑series, equipment states, alarms, maintenance history and production information.
• Familiarity with industrial systems such as SCADA, DCS, MES, EAM/CMMS and ERP.
• Technical proficiency in Python, SQL and analytics tools for data inspection, prototyping and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of AI, machine learning, advanced analytics, optimization and predictive maintenance techniques.
