Engineering Manager – SMT Production & NPI

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the design, setup, and optimisation of SMT production lines for new business programs. The role combines deep expertise in PCB manufacturing, NPI, and process engineering with strong cross‑functional coordination in a high‑volume EMS environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement SMT production lines that meet customer and business requirements.
• Define equipment, layout, throughput, and manpower for new line proposals.
• Lead equipment selection, CapEx justification, procurement, and installation.
• Establish process flows, machine programs, and tooling for optimal production.
• Validate processes through pilot builds and resolve issues before mass production.
• Drive NPI activities and ensure smooth transition from development to manufacturing.
• Coordinate with supply chain, quality, and production teams to achieve line readiness.
• Oversee ramp‑up, improve yield, and optimise performance metrics.
• Ensure adherence to DFX principles, quality standards, and cost targets.
• Support early production and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong expertise in SMT assembly and PCB manufacturing.
• Hands‑on experience with NPI and production line setup.
• Knowledge of DFX (manufacturability, testability) and process optimisation.
• Familiarity with lean practices such as 5S and Six Sigma.
• Understanding of supply‑chain procurement and component planning.
• Proficiency in project‑management and productivity tools.
• Strong analytical skills using Excel/Google Sheets and MS Office for reporting.
• Effective leadership, communication, and cross‑functional coordination.
