Corporate Attorney – Legal Center of Excellence

About the role

IBM is seeking an experienced Attorney to join its Legal Center of Excellence in Bangalore. You will work alongside a dynamic team of lawyers and support staff, providing legal guidance to IBM’s global business units and helping shape the company’s legal strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Support early‑stage commercial engagements, including distribution agreements, mergers and acquisitions, and related transactions.
• Advise business functions such as procurement, real estate, HR, and finance on regulatory compliance, contractual disputes, and litigation matters.
• Provide counsel on privacy, cybersecurity, intellectual property, workplace relations, and data protection issues.
• Draft, review, and negotiate IT contracts with government and commercial entities covering services, software, and cloud solutions.
• Collaborate with IBM’s global legal teams to ensure consistent legal service delivery across regions.

Required profile

• Qualified to practice law in India.
• 4–13 years of legal experience in‑house or at a law firm, preferably with exposure to technology and IT contracts.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, with decreasing supervision as familiarity with IBM’s operations grows.
• Strong ethical standards and commitment to integrity.

Required skills

• Negotiation of IT contracts (services, software, cloud).
• Knowledge of privacy, cybersecurity, and data protection regulations.
• Understanding of intellectual property and regulatory compliance matters.
• Experience advising on government procurement policies and dispute resolution.
