Associate Director – Overhead Line Equipment (OLE)

About the role

WSP is looking for an Associate Director to lead the Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) team within its Rail & Transit business. You will oversee the delivery of OLE design packages for Swedish rail projects, guide technical development, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Sweden, India and other global locations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage OLE design packages from feasibility through IFC stages, ensuring compliance with Swedish Rail (Trafikverket) and EN/IEC standards.
• Prepare and review design deliverables such as layout plans, cross‑sections, wire run schedules, mast schedules and safety studies.
• Coordinate with track, signalling, telecom, civil and structural disciplines using system‑engineering principles.
• Allocate work, review outputs and mentor the OLE team to build capability.
• Drive technical discussions, resolve design issues, and support client submissions and audits.
• Promote continuous improvement of design standards, delivery workflows and quality processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s or professional certification is a plus).
• 15+ years of experience in railway OLE/electrification design, including leadership of technical teams.
• Proven experience delivering mainline rail electrification projects, preferably in Europe/Nordic regions.
• Strong leadership, technical credibility and ability to work across multiple geographies.
