About the role
The Zonal Merchant Lead is responsible for driving merchant acquisition and activation across a defined geographic zone. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to increase brand visibility, grow the merchant base, and ensure high throughput of transactions.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and acquire new merchants, both small and large‑format retailers, within the assigned circle.
- Activate merchants by onboarding them onto the platform and ensuring they are fully operational.
- Maintain market visibility for the brand through targeted initiatives and partnerships.
- Collaborate with marketing, MIS, and sales teams to secure necessary support for merchant growth.
- Plan and execute zone‑specific strategies to meet targets for acquisition, activation, unique customers, and transaction volume.
- Train, mentor, and develop a team of team leads and merchant executives.
- Monitor competitor activities and devise tactics to win market share.
Required profile
- Strong knowledge of the local geography and retail landscape.
- Proven experience in merchant acquisition, activation, or similar sales roles.
- Leadership experience managing teams and driving performance.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
