About the role
The Zonal Merchant Lead will drive merchant acquisition and activation across the assigned circle, ensuring brand visibility and sustained business growth. This role combines sales leadership, geographic planning, and cross‑functional coordination to meet merchant‑related targets.
Key responsibilities
- Manage sales and distribution activities within the circle.
- Lead merchant acquisition initiatives for both small merchants and large‑format retail.
- Utilise in‑depth geographic knowledge to optimise resource deployment for merchant operations.
- Activate newly onboarded merchants and ensure their ongoing engagement.
- Enhance brand visibility in the marketplace.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support merchant business growth.
- Oversee merchant servicing and relationship management.
- Plan and execute strategies to achieve acquisition, activation, unique customer, and throughput targets.
- Train, develop, and mentor team leads and merchant executives.
- Coordinate with key functions such as marketing, MIS, and sales to secure comprehensive business support.
- Monitor competition and devise strategies to win market share.
Required profile
- Proven experience in sales and distribution management.
- Demonstrated success in merchant acquisition and activation.
- Strong knowledge of local geography for effective resource planning.
- Leadership ability to train and mentor merchant teams.
- Excellent coordination skills with marketing, MIS, and sales functions.
- Strategic mindset to track competition and develop winning approaches.
