Technical Director, SoC Architect (MCU)

About the role

NXP is looking for a Technical Director / SoC Architect in Pune to define and drive the architecture of next-generation microcontrollers. The role leads architectural decisions that balance real-time determinism, performance, power efficiency, safety and security, delivering scalable MCU products for industrial, automotive and IoT markets. It works closely with SoC design teams, system architects, IP owners, software architects and product planning.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve MCU SoC architectures aligned with product strategy, market trends and industry standards.
• Design scalable multi-core compute architectures optimized for TCMs, SRAM hierarchy, DMA and interconnect bandwidth.
• Integrate secure boot, root-of-trust, isolation and cryptographic acceleration, supporting functional safety and lifecycle requirements.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware and IP teams on processing, memory, power management, peripherals and interconnects; good knowledge of analog IPs (ADC, DAC, PLL, SERDES) is required.
• Lead performance-per-watt strategies, balancing frequency, voltage, memory and power states to meet RT and MCX power envelopes, and support early performance and power estimation.
• Develop architecture specifications, best practices and technical documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in MCU SoC architecture, microarchitecture, RTL design and/or physical design.
• Strong understanding of microprocessor and microcontroller architectures, including CPU cores, interconnects, memory management, bus protocols and peripheral integration.
• Experience in low-power design and performance optimization.
• Strong collaboration skills across silicon, hardware and software teams.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Ethernet, USB, SPI and I3C protocols.
• Preferred: ARM Cortex-M experience, power and performance modeling, HW/SW co-design and debugging, functional safety and security standards, Wi-Fi integration and secure wireless communication.
