Tax Manager – Tax Controversy (India)

About the role

Amazon is looking for an experienced tax lawyer to lead its India tax audit and dispute resolution efforts. This strategic position will work within Amazon’s global tax group, managing complex tax controversies and ensuring effective risk mitigation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute tax dispute resolution strategies for India, overseeing audits, appeals, and litigation.
• Analyze tax submissions and document requests to identify and mitigate controversy risk.
• Collaborate with Amazon tax teams on direct, indirect, and international tax issues from a controversy perspective.
• Lead stakeholder communication with business units, corporate services, and tax authorities.
• Prepare and deliver presentations to tax authorities and internal teams.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in India tax dispute resolution, preferably in a large public accounting firm or multinational corporate tax department.
• LLB/LLM and a practising tax lawyer background with a focus on tax litigation.
• Proven track record of managing complex tax controversies and stakeholder relationships.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to translate complex tax concepts for non‑tax audiences.
