Tax Associate 2 – Hedge Fund & Private Equity Tax

About the role

RSM is seeking a Tax Associate 2 to join its Financial Services team, focusing on hedge fund and private equity partnership tax compliance. You will work with a diverse client base, delivering high‑quality tax returns and advisory services.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare complex hedge fund and private equity partnership tax returns.
• Conduct detailed review and analysis of tax filings.
• Research, document, and summarize conclusions on specific tax issues.
• Develop, motivate, and train staff and intern team members.
• Interact directly with clients to address questions, planning needs, and concerns.
• Stay current on tax practice changes and evolving tax legislation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or a related field.
• 1+ year of experience in business taxation at a Big 4, large national/regional firm, or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience preparing and reviewing tax returns.
• Working knowledge of tax code and technical aspects of tax compliance.
• Ability to collaborate closely with clients to gather information and answer queries.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in Accounting/Taxation or MBA, active CPA/EA/CA certification, and strong technical expertise in asset‑management tax.
