Tax Analyst I – VAT Compliance (APAC)

About the role

Amazon is looking for an energetic VAT Compliance Tax Analyst to join its International Indirect Tax Compliance team in Bangalore. The role is part of the Rekindle returnship program and focuses on preparing and filing VAT returns across EMEA and Rest‑of‑World jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, analyse and submit VAT returns for EMEA and RoW jurisdictions.
• Prepare, analyse and submit Intrastat returns where required.
• Assist with VAT registrations and respond to compliance queries.
• Map VAT processes, identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
• Prepare and review month‑end VAT account reconciliations.
• Provide internal and external audit support, including data analysis.
• Support accounting teams and contribute to Tax Requirement Documents for technology teams.
• Participate in cross‑functional projects prioritising automation and in‑housing.
• Support business growth and onboarding of new entities into VAT compliance processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in tax, finance or a related analytical role, preferably in a large public accounting firm or multinational corporate tax department.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong understanding of financial systems and technical accounting concepts.
• Ability to take ownership, identify process improvements and drive change.
