Staff Engineer EM/IR

About the role

Qualcomm is seeking an experienced EM/IR Engineer to lead power‑integrity and reliability sign‑off activities for advanced‑node SoC designs. In this senior position you will drive IR‑drop and electromigration analysis, define sign‑off methodologies, and work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure robust silicon implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead full‑chip and block‑level IR‑drop and electromigration analysis for advanced‑node SoCs.
• Drive power‑integrity sign‑off closure by identifying, debugging, and resolving IR/EM violations.
• Collaborate with Physical Design, Power, Package, and Foundry teams to optimise power delivery networks.
• Define and improve EM/IR methodologies, automation flows, and sign‑off strategies.
• Perform static and dynamic IR analysis across multiple operating conditions and scenarios.
• Analyse power‑grid robustness, current density, and thermal impacts to ensure design reliability.
• Support tape‑out activities and deliver high‑quality sign‑off within project timelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a VLSI‑related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in IR/EM analysis, power integrity, or physical‑design sign‑off.
• Strong understanding of power‑integrity concepts, including static/dynamic IR drop, EM analysis, and power‑grid optimisation.
• Proven ability to lead sign‑off closure for complex chip designs.

Required skills

• Power‑integrity analysis (IR‑drop, electromigration).
• Power‑grid optimisation and thermal impact assessment.
• Physical‑design flow knowledge (floorplanning, placement, CTS, routing).
• Experience with Cadence Voltus.
• Experience with Ansys RedHawk or equivalent tools.
