Software Engineer – Programming Languages Team

About the role

Forward Networks is seeking a Software Engineer to join the NQE and Programming Languages team. You will work on the Network Query Engine, building advanced query optimizers, domain‑specific languages, and tools that enable network operators to verify intent and predict behavior.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain the core Java code base and the NQE platform.
• Design and implement a cost‑based query optimizer for the NQE query language.
• Create extensions to a hierarchical text‑pattern‑matching language and a bidirectional parsing system.
• Collaborate with AI experts to prototype natural‑language interfaces for internal DSLs.
• Build and support IDE plugins and other tooling that provide language support for the DSLs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• 3+ years of professional experience with Java, Scala or similar languages (C#, F#).
• Strong object‑oriented design and development skills.
