Software Engineer III – Java (Payments Technology)

About the role

JPMorgan Chase is seeking an experienced Software Engineer III to join the Commercial & Investment Bank Payments Technology team. You will work in an agile environment, designing and delivering secure, stable, and scalable technology products that power our payment solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, design, and troubleshoot software solutions, applying innovative approaches to complex problems.
• Write secure, high‑quality production code and maintain synchronous algorithms with supporting systems.
• Leverage enterprise‑authorized AI coding‑assist tools to improve code quality, speed, and productivity, while validating outputs through peer review and automated testing.
• Create architecture and design artifacts for complex applications, ensuring design constraints are met.
• Gather, analyze, and visualize large data sets to drive continuous improvement of applications and systems.
• Identify hidden problems and patterns in data to enhance coding hygiene and system architecture.

Required profile

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with at least 3 years of applied experience.
• Hands‑on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability in a large corporate environment.
• Proficiency with modern programming languages and database querying languages.
• Experience using AI‑assisted development tools and a solid understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, and security expectations.
• Strong knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and agile methodologies such as CI/CD and application resiliency.
