Software Development Engineer - II

About the role

The Software Development Engineer II will join the Selling Partner Identity Verification (SPIV) team, building a secure, high‑accuracy identity verification platform that serves millions of Amazon customers worldwide. You will work on large‑scale distributed systems that enable fast, frictionless registration and account management for services such as Mechanical Turk, Amazon Pay, and Amazon Flex.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain large‑scale distributed services for identity verification and account lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure high accuracy, security, and low friction for end users.
• Scale systems to support global traffic across North America, Europe, Japan, China, and other regions.
• Apply design patterns, reliability engineering, and performance optimization techniques.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software development experience (non‑internship).
• 2+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems.
• 3+ years building complex software systems at scale.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one programming language.
• Experience with large‑scale distributed systems.
• Knowledge of web services and APIs.
• Familiarity with design patterns, reliability, and scaling techniques.
