Skilled Technician – Level II – Shop

About the role

The Skilled Technician – Level II – Shop supports manufacturing operations by performing a wide range of maintenance, automation, and safety tasks. Working with limited guidance, you will ensure equipment reliability and compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Follow Cummins HSE policies, report unsafe conditions, and use appropriate PPE.
• Perform preventive, predictive, corrective, emergency and breakdown maintenance on production, assembly and test equipment.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair electrical systems, industrial controls, PLC‑based automation, drives and motion‑control equipment.
• Support programming modifications, upgrades and commissioning of automation and robotics systems.
• Interpret electrical schematics, control diagrams, operation manuals and technical specifications.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis, implement corrective actions and participate in TPM, Lean and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Maintain tools, fixtures, automation equipment and testing systems, and assist with spare‑parts planning.
• Perform routine inspections, calibration checks and equipment verification to minimize downtime.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong understanding of lockout‑tagout (LOTO) and electrical safety procedures.
• Experience in preventive and corrective maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
• Commitment to a proactive safety culture and environmental sustainability.
• Capability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics.
