Electrical Design Engineer (Substation) – Mumbai

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer specialized in substation projects to join our team in Mumbai. The role involves delivering complete design packages for GIS and AIS substations ranging from 66 kV to 765 kV, ensuring compliance with international standards and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed HV/EHV substation designs, including layout drawings, equipment specifications, and calculations such as short‑circuit forces, earthing, lightning protection, conductor sizing, and battery sizing.
• Develop and review single‑line diagrams, general arrangement drawings, electrical layouts, earthing layouts, cable schedules, and bill of materials, coordinating with civil engineers and vendors.
• Guide the design team through preparation of SLD, EKD, DSLP, switchyard illumination, and bus‑bar scheme documentation, and monitor progress to meet project and tender deadlines.
• Review vendor drawings and ensure integration with control and protection schemes, performing necessary design calculations and verifications.

Required profile

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering (regular) with a minimum of 4 years of substation design experience.
• Proven experience on GIS and AIS projects for voltage levels between 66 kV and 765 kV, including switchyard layout and equipment design.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD for drafting and layout creation.
• Familiarity with ETAP and CDEGs for power system analysis.
• Strong knowledge of IEC, IEEE and ANSI standards applicable to high‑voltage substations.
• Hands‑on experience with GIS/AIS design, short‑circuit, earthing, sag‑tension, and battery sizing calculations.
