Site Reliability Engineer (P1) - Azure & SQL Server

About the role

Trimble is hiring a P1 Site Reliability Engineer for its Global AI Site Reliability & Security Operations (AI-SecOps) team in Chennai. The role supports an enterprise Azure ecosystem of 22,000+ Windows Virtual Machines and 3,000+ Microsoft SQL Servers, combining SRE principles, Zero Trust architecture and AI-driven automation. It follows a follow-the-sun model across North America and India and is presented as an entry-level launchpad.

Key responsibilities

• Support the reliability and security strategy across the Azure infrastructure, keeping system stability and performance metrics healthy.
• Help apply security configurations, patching standards and operational guidelines across the Windows VMs and SQL Servers.
• Take part in global patch deployment workflows using tools such as Azure Update Manager, NinjaOne, SCCM/MECM, WSUS, PatchMyPC, ManageEngine or Ivanti.
• Assist with Azure landing zone policies, RBAC access controls, WAF rule sets and Zero Trust protocols.
• Run routine CVE scans with Qualys, Tenable, Rapid7 or Defender, using AI tools and scripts for triage and automated patching.
• Write and maintain scripts in PowerShell, Python or Terraform to automate tasks, CI gates and runbooks.
• Support incident triage and root-cause analysis with engineering teams in North America and India.

Required profile

• 2-3 years of hands-on experience in cloud technical support, systems administration, DevOps or site reliability engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail and willingness to learn AI-assisted engineering practices.

Required skills

• Fundamental understanding of Microsoft Azure, Azure AD/Entra ID, RBAC and basic cloud networking and security.
• Introductory to intermediate PowerShell or Python for automation and scripting.
• Basic Windows Server administration and familiarity with MS SQL Server.
• Bonus: AZ-900, AZ-500 or CompTIA Security+ certification; Terraform, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps; CVSS and vulnerability scanning tools.
