Service Engineer – Locomotive Maintenance

About the role

Wabtec is seeking a Service Engineer to lead scheduled, unscheduled, heavy‑maintenance and wreck‑repair activities for 4500 HP and 6000 HP locomotives. You will ensure work is completed on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards while maintaining all required documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and supervise maintenance, heavy‑maintenance and repair tasks for high‑power locomotives.
• Ensure adherence to work scopes, safety procedures and local regulations.
• Maintain clean, orderly work areas and promote a safe work environment.
• Document all activities accurately and provide clear reports.
• Coordinate with shift teams to support 24 × 7 operations.

Required profile

• BE/B.Tech in Engineering or relevant technical diploma.
• 7–12 years of experience in locomotive or rolling‑stock maintenance.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts in a shop environment.
• Experience in the transportation or rail industry.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Technical knowledge of engines, bogies, brake systems, traction motors and control systems.
• Ability to analyze and troubleshoot locomotive faults.
• Comfort with IT systems for monitoring and maintaining locomotives.
