Service Engineer – Locomotive Maintenance

About the role

Wabtec is seeking a Service Engineer to lead scheduled, unscheduled and heavy‑maintenance activities for 4500 HP and 6000 HP locomotives. The role ensures work is completed on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards while maintaining comprehensive documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute scheduled, unscheduled, heavy‑maintenance and wreck‑repair tasks for locomotives.
• Ensure all work adheres to defined scopes, timelines, cost targets and quality requirements.
• Promote a safe work environment and maintain clean, orderly shop areas.
• Comply with local regulations and customer‑specific safety policies.

Required profile

• BE/B.Tech in Engineering or relevant technical diploma.
• 7–12 years of experience in locomotive or rolling‑stock maintenance.
• Willingness to work 24 × 7 shifts.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work effectively in a shop environment.
• Prior experience in the transportation industry.

Required skills

• Technical expertise on engines, bogies, brake systems, traction motors and control systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and fault‑analysis abilities for locomotive systems.
• Proficiency with IT monitoring tools for locomotive maintenance.
• Competence in using Microsoft Office applications.
