Senior Tax M&A Advisor (Private Equity)

About the role

KPMG is seeking a qualified Chartered Accountant to join its Tax M&A team. The role focuses on providing tax due diligence and transaction advisory services for private equity and alternative investment funds.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth tax due diligence on target companies for primary and secondary acquisitions.
• Advise on deal structuring, including buy‑side, sell‑side, and internal restructurings from a tax and regulatory perspective.
• Analyze tax and regulatory implications of transaction structures under domestic and international tax laws.
• Collaborate with private equity funds to evaluate tax implications of fund structures, portfolio investments, compliance matters, and exit strategies.
• Design and implement tax‑efficient investment holding structures.
• Ensure timely compliance with income‑tax regulations, prepare and file tax returns, and handle assessments.
• Apply knowledge of FEMA, SEBI, and the Companies Act to provide holistic advice.
• Coordinate with legal, financial, and operational teams as well as global KPMG partners on cross‑border and international tax matters.

Required profile

• Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA).
• 0‑2 years of experience in direct tax, preferably with exposure to tax due diligence or private‑equity clients.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and client‑management skills.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Indian Income‑Tax provisions.
• Familiarity with FEMA regulations.
• Understanding of SEBI guidelines.
• Knowledge of the Companies Act.
