Senior Public Health Consultant – Metropolitan Disease Surveillance

About the role

PATH is seeking a senior public health consultant to lead the design and implementation of a metropolitan disease surveillance program in India. The role is based at the National Centre for Disease Control in Delhi and will support the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and World Bank‑funded initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on designing, scaling and operationalising the Metropolitan Disease Surveillance program, ensuring alignment with national priorities and international best practices.
• Identify enablers and barriers to implementation and propose strategic solutions.
• Conduct implementation research, document innovations, and prepare policy briefs for scaling successful interventions.
• Develop options papers on private‑sector engagement and partnership opportunities.
• Coordinate with government counterparts, development partners and technical agencies to ensure integrated, multi‑sectoral surveillance approaches.
• Apply geospatial epidemiology tools to predict outbreaks and identify vulnerable populations.
• Support capacity‑building activities, including training of surveillance staff.

Required profile

• Senior‑level public health professional with extensive experience in disease surveillance and epidemiology.
• Proven ability to work with national health authorities, development partners and multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical and research skills to generate evidence‑based recommendations.
