Senior Drainage Engineer

About the role

AECOM’s Enterprise Capabilities team is seeking a Senior Engineer specialized in Drainage to support global projects from Bangalore and Gurugram. The role involves designing storm‑water systems for highways, tracks, urban sites and sub‑stations, and providing technical guidance across multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design hydraulic and hydrological drainage solutions, including gully spacing, SuDS, attenuation basins, flow‑control devices and pumping stations.
• Perform flood‑risk assessments and develop detailed design packages for road/bridge crossings, valve chambers and related infrastructure.
• Utilize modeling tools such as InfoDrainage, PCSWMM, HEC‑RAS, OpenRoad Designer and others to simulate system performance.
• Ensure compliance with DMRB standards, CIRIA C753 SuDS Manual, DCG, EA/SEPA guidance and other relevant regulations.
• Provide technical support for asset relocation, tagging, connection drawings and clash analysis using Navisworks.
• Collaborate in a Common Data Environment (ProjectWise, BIM 360, ACC) and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in hydraulic/hydrological design, preferably on international projects (UK, USA, Canada, MER, ANZ).
• Master’s degree in Civil, Water Resources, Environment or related field.
• Professional qualification pursuit (e.g., C.Eng. ICE, IET, C.CIWEM) and strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and maintain high accuracy.

Required skills

• Hydraulic & hydrological design of storm‑water systems.
• Proficiency with modeling tools: InfoDrainage, MicroDrainage, PCSWMM, TuFlow, Causeway Flow, Sewer GEMS/Infoworks ICM, HEC‑RAS, OpenRoad Designer.
• Knowledge of DMRB, CIRIA C753, DCG, EA/SEPA standards.
• Clash analysis using Navisworks.
• Experience with ProjectWise, BIM 360, ACC.
