Procurement Officer – Mechanical & Engineering Materials

About the role

Welspun is seeking a Procurement Officer to manage end‑to‑end purchasing of mechanical and engineering‑related materials, components, consumables and services. The role ensures timely, cost‑effective supply of quality items to support manufacturing and project operations.

Key responsibilities

• Float RFQs, collect quotations and prepare comparative statements for management review.
• Obtain technical approvals from Production, Quality, Engineering and other relevant departments.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, taxes, freight and delivery schedules with suppliers.
• Prepare approval notes (NFA) and generate accurate purchase orders in SAP.
• Track order status, follow up with vendors and resolve delivery issues.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth material flow and avoid stockouts or excess inventory.
• Maintain procurement documentation, including invoices, GRNs and vendor communications, in line with company policies.
• Maintain records of purchase history, pricing trends and supplier performance using SAP and advanced Excel.

Required profile

• Experience in procurement of mechanical or engineering items, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong negotiation and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work closely with cross‑functional teams such as Production, Quality, Stores, Engineering and Finance.
