Principal Consultant – Technical Architecture

About the role

Appian’s Customer Success team in Chennai is looking for a Principal Consultant to provide elite technical advisory for global enterprise customers. You will lead the design, execution, and performance optimization of multi‑application platforms that leverage AI‑powered process automation to solve mission‑critical operational challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Architect platform scalability by building standards and tools focused on reusability, schema optimization, data modeling, system performance, and responsive UX/UI.
• Design, develop, and review high‑concurrency integrations using SQL views, stored procedures, and REST/SOAP APIs.
• Perform system‑level troubleshooting to isolate performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, resource contention, and latency spikes across the web stack.
• Analyze database execution plans, JVM/memory utilization, and Locust load‑test results to resolve architectural bottlenecks.
• Translate complex diagnostics into strategic recommendations and mentor junior developers on DevSecOps and coding standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or Mathematics.
• 10+ years of progressive IT experience, including 8+ years in enterprise web application architecture, deployment and delivery.
• Proven technical leadership guiding teams through the full SDLC and defining production‑readiness strategies.
