Plumbing & Fire Fighting Draftsman

About the role

The Plumbing & Fire Fighting Draftsman will prepare shop drawings, coordinated layouts and as‑built drawings for plumbing, drainage, water supply and fire protection systems on MEP projects. The role works closely with design engineers, BIM modelers, project managers and site engineers to deliver execution‑ready documentation that meets specifications and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed plumbing and fire‑fighting shop drawings for execution and consultant/client approvals.
• Develop drawings for domestic water supply, hot & cold water piping, SWV systems, storm water drainage, rainwater harvesting, sewage networks, hydrant and sprinkler systems, fire pump rooms, water storage tanks and related fire‑protection equipment.
• Coordinate MEP drawings, integrating plumbing and fire‑fighting services with HVAC, electrical, structural and architectural disciplines.
• Review design drawings, consultant comments and specifications, incorporate revisions and produce final execution drawings.
• Generate accurate as‑built drawings reflecting site conditions and installation updates.
• Support BIM modelling for plumbing and fire‑fighting services using Revit MEP or collaborate with BIM teams.
• Assist with BOQ extraction, quantity take‑offs and material schedules.
• Collaborate with project and site engineers to ensure drawings match actual installations and project requirements.
• Prepare documentation for tenders, consultant approvals, client submissions and statutory authority approvals.

Required profile

• Proven experience preparing detailed shop drawings for plumbing and fire‑fighting systems.
• Ability to coordinate MEP drawings with other disciplines and incorporate design revisions.
• Familiarity with project specifications, applicable standards and client requirements.
• Experience working closely with design engineers, BIM modelers, project managers and site engineers.
