Planning Engineer – Project Scheduling & Cost Control

About the role

The Planning Engineer will lead the development and maintenance of integrated project schedules and cost control mechanisms for large‑scale construction projects. You will work closely with design, procurement, construction and finance teams to ensure that timelines, budgets and resources are aligned and tracked throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain L1‑L5 schedules covering engineering, procurement, construction, testing, handover and close‑out.
• Prepare baseline, milestone, phase‑wise and tower‑wise programmes, including resource‑loaded and cost‑loaded schedules.
• Track progress against baselines, identify critical paths, slippages and recovery actions; produce look‑ahead schedules and recovery plans.
• Conduct delay analysis, support EOT claims and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate project budgeting, cost control systems and monthly cost performance reporting (EVM, CPI, SPI, CTC forecasts).
• Prepare and update cash‑flow forecasts, billing enablement plans and monthly Cost‑to‑Complete forecasts.
• Collaborate with architectural, structural, MEP, façade and infrastructure teams to finalize BOQs and assess design change impacts.
• Produce daily, monthly and executive progress reports, dashboards and MIS for senior management.
• Maintain risk registers, hindrance logs, recovery trackers and governance documentation; support handover and project close‑out planning.

Required profile

• Proven experience in project planning, scheduling and controls within the construction industry.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret schedule data, cost performance and risk indicators.
• Experience working with multi‑disciplinary teams and delivering accurate reports to senior stakeholders.
• Knowledge of earned value management principles and cost‑to‑complete forecasting.
