P&ID Designer / Drafter – Engineering

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled P&ID Designer/Drafter to join our Global Engineering Center in Chennai. The role involves creating and maintaining detailed piping and instrumentation diagrams for complex water and wastewater treatment projects worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) ensuring dimensional accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
• Manage drawing revisions and maintain strict document control records.
• Collaborate with process, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering teams to integrate multidisciplinary inputs.
• Ensure all drawings adhere to company, project‑specific and industry standards such as ASME, BIS and ISO.
• Follow internal CAD standards for layering, naming conventions and drawing formats.
• Stay current with drafting best practices and software updates to improve drawing quality and efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical or related engineering.
• 8‑10 years of experience in P&ID design for complex projects, preferably with international exposure.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD (AutoCAD 3D preferred).
• In‑depth knowledge of piping systems, process equipment and instrumentation symbology.
• Familiarity with ASME, BIS and ISO standards.
• Experience with internal CAD standards and document control procedures.
