Patent Secretary

About the role

Our client, a leading intellectual property law firm in India, is seeking a Patent Secretary to support its patent practice across the country. You will work closely with attorneys and clients to manage the full patent lifecycle, from filing to grant and maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file patent applications in India, USPTO and PCT jurisdictions.
• Handle FER responses, office actions and other prosecution requirements.
• Draft and file patent assignment documents and related illustrations.
• Interact with the Indian Patent Office for queries, grants, renewals and maintenance.
• Maintain accurate records of post‑grant documents, renewals and statutory filings.
• Coordinate with clients and internal teams to ensure timely compliance.

Required profile

• 2‑8 years of experience in patent filing and prosecution.
• LLB graduate not registered with the Bar Council.
• Paralegal experience in an IPR law firm or corporate IP department.
• Strong academic record, analytical ability and effective communication skills.
