Patent Secretary

About the role

Our client, a leading intellectual property law firm in India, is seeking a Patent Secretary to support its patent practice across multiple offices. The role involves handling the full patent life‑cycle, from filing to post‑grant activities, and requires close interaction with clients and the Indian Patent Office.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file patent applications, including Indian, USPTO and PCT filings.
• Draft and file FER responses, office action replies, and other prosecution documents.
• Illustrate, draft and file patent assignment agreements.
• Manage patent grants, renewals and maintenance in India and the US.
• Coordinate with the Indian Patent Office for queries, extensions and other procedural matters.
• Liaise with clients and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate documentation.

Required profile

• 2–8 years of experience in patent filing and prosecution, preferably in an IPR law firm or corporate IP department.
• LLB graduate who is not registered with the Bar Council.
• Strong academic record and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
