Part-time COA Cook/Kitchen Help

About the role

This part‑time position supports the community meals program by preparing, presenting, and serving nutritious meals to seniors and other participants. The role requires a friendly attitude, physical stamina, and adherence to food safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare congregate meals according to approved menus and recipes, ensuring appealing presentation and proper portion control.
• Create weekly shopping lists from approved menus and conduct shopping trips.
• Chop vegetables, prepare beverages, and plate food for meals.
• Wash and sanitize dishes, cooking utensils, pots, and pans; maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment.
• Set tables in the dining area and assist with cleanup after meals.
• Assist with storing food deliveries and organizing pantry supplies.
• Coordinate with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth daily operations.

Required profile

• Ability to maintain safe food handling standards; Food Handler’s Certificate preferred.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lb.
• Friendly demeanor and patience when interacting with seniors.
• Frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting required.
