Mechanical Design Engineer I

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer I to join our Chennai team. The role involves designing electromechanical products, collaborating with our US engineering group, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop sheet‑metal and plastic components for electromechanical products.
• Create detailed drawings following ASME Y14.5M‑2009, UL, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Model parts and assemblies in Autodesk Inventor, including routing and electrical harnesses.
• Perform GD&T analysis, tolerance stack‑up, and support FEA validation with the analysis team.
• Generate prototypes, manufacturing, catalog, and packaging drawings.
• Apply FMEA, VA/VE and DFMA methodologies to improve product design.
• Act as the technical interface with US engineers, ensuring project schedules and quality standards are met.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 4–5 years of experience in mechanical product design and development.
• Strong knowledge of UL, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Proven ability to work with cross‑functional and international teams.

• Autodesk Inventor (modeling, assembly, drafting, routing).
