Manager, Operational Risk & Controls - Europe

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Manager, Operational Risk & Controls for its Europe region, based in Pune, India. The role provides independent second‑line oversight of operational risk across technology and non‑technology domains, ensuring compliance with European regulatory frameworks such as SIPS, PISA and CROE.

Key responsibilities

• Champion the application of the Operational Risk and Controls (ORC) framework’s three pillars across Europe and provide independent oversight, challenge and guidance to first‑line owners.
• Facilitate and oversee Risk and Control Self‑Assessments (RCSAs) and maintain the risk and control register for high‑operational‑risk processes.
• Review control designs, assess effectiveness, evaluate testing results and escalate significant gaps, tracking remediation to closure.
• Support the maintenance of a Europe‑wide technology and non‑technology control framework in partnership with Group ORC, first‑line teams, Tech Risk and Corporate Security.
• Contribute to regulatory readiness for SIPS, PISA and CROE, aligning with supervisory themes such as cyber and operational resilience.
• Collaborate with global ORC, 1LoD business and technology owners, Tech Risk, Corporate Security, TPRM, Finance, Regulatory Affairs, Internal Audit and risk governance committees.

Required profile

• Experience in operational risk, control assessment and regulatory compliance within a financial services or payments environment.
• Knowledge of European supervisory expectations (SIPS, PISA, CROE) and cyber/operational resilience.
• Ability to work with cross‑functional teams and provide independent challenge.
